Electrochemical Studies Of Novel 3,4-Dichloro-N-((5-ChloroPyridin-2-yl)Carbamothioyl)Benzamide Based On Its Complexes With Copper(II), Cobalt(II), Nickel(II) and Zinc(II) ions

The synthesis of novel N,Nʹ-disubstituted benzoyl thiourea ligand [3,4-dichloro-N-((5-chloropyridin-2-yl)carbamothioyl) benzamide] (L) is achieved in two steps. First step by refluxing KSCN with 3,4-dichloro chloride CH3CN solvent and the other reaction resulting filtrate from first 2-amino-5-chloropyridine. copper(II), Cobalt(II), Nickel(II) Zinc(II) acetate salts were coordinated L 1:1 1:2 mole ratios (M:L) mixture DMF/H2O or CHCl3/methanol to form complexes structural formulas {[LMCl2] [L2M](CH3COO)2, M= Copper(II), ions}. Two starting materials, experimented complexes, product was formula [LMCl2] while [L2M](CH3COO)2 are resulted same conditions. Ligand its [LCuCl2], [LCoCl2], [LNiCl2], [LZnCl2], [L2Cu](CH3COO)2, [L2Co](CH3COO)2, [L2Ni](CH3COO)2 [(L)2Zn](CH3COO)2 have been characterized mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, magnetic moments, conductivity measurements, solubility test, UV-visible, FTIR, 1H 13C NMR spectroscopies. Electrochemical studies probed using cyclic voltammetry technique(CV). data reflect quasi-reversible reductive nature for Copper(II) one electron transfer process Cobalt(II) exhibited consecutive irreversible nature. observed molar conductivity, moment measurements test revealed that metal ion all prepared adopted four square planar structures formed as neutral anion complexes. moments show diamagnetic properties appeared paramagnetic species. FT-IR analysis confirmed coordination sites between central through sites, nitrogen atom pyridyl ring sulphur C=S group
